Portillo
Having moved house my momentous decision to vote Conservative at the next election is having unseen consequences. Previously, in safe Labour Hampstead and Highgate, any Tory vote from me would have little impact, and in any case I had no idea who the candidate was going to be. Now however, I will be voting to put Michael Portillo in again. Oh dear. I know he's all cuddly, contrite and caring now, but I've never seen an apology for either his SAS speech (in which he basically threatened our European allies with an armed response) or his 'In other countries they pay to get exam results' speech. Also I saw him talk earlier this year and he said his hero was Margaret Thatcher.
