Let's be Lichtenstein
Daniel Hannan argues that the reason Iceland, Lichtenstein, Switzerland and Norway are richer than Britain is because they aren't in the EU.The argument of course fails on the data. In 1970, when Britain wasn't in the EU, Switzerland and Norway were much more richer than Britain, in fact Britain has caught up to some extent. You might as well say its the EU that has done it. Data on Iceland and Lichtenstein is patchy, though on the latter you might as well note Luxembourg is the richest country in the world...and the EU. Hannan also says GDP per capita in those countries is twice that of the EU, which of course is true due to the new East European countries.
