Telegraph repeats lie
"Typical middle- to high-income earners now pay up to 50 per cent of their salary to the Treasury, compared to 36 per cent when Tony Blair came to power in 1997."screams The Telegraph, and yes, it is based on the same lie, namely that a typical middle-class family moves house ever year.
In fact it is about every seven years, and so the Stamp Duty should be divided by 7. Do this and in fact it is less than 40%, not much different from what was paid in 1997.
There really is no excuse for this. "Typical" does not mean what 6/7ths of the population don't do.
