Waiting by the 'phone
In much the same was as Heinrich Himmler's greatest concern on being caught by the Allies was whether he should bow to General Eisenhower, I'm worrying this morning what is the correct form of address to take when Gordon Brown calls me to offer me a Cabinet post.The BBC's Political Editor whose name I forget yesterday said that Tony Blair was now plain Mr Blair. I don't quite understand this - what was he yesterday? Prime Minister Blair is an Americanism, so was it The Prime Minister, Tony Blair? And surely he is still Tony Blair, MP, though perhaps not?
